4/16/20

It was great to see so many of you today!
Here is a recap of what we talked about. Everyday, you will spend 1-2 hours a day working on something for ELA and math.
For math, please watch a video that goes with the problem set you are doing. Try and do 3 lessons a week. There is also the Weekly Math Review packet. Start with Q2:4. Try and do this on Monday-Thursday. I will have videos available for how to answer the questions so you can check your work.
For reading, please start with A Day in the Life of a Zoo Atlanta Zookeeper. If you turn to the next page, you will see what you can do on Monday-Thursday. One thing that is important is that your are highlighting your evidence in the text.
I also put that writing assignment in Google Classroom: Writing. That assignment is writing a letter to my mom who is in a nursing home and not allowed to have an visitors.
If that is not enough to do, there is also the other 3 sets of activities in your folder. You can also go to ZEARN, Prodigy, Freckle, and Imagine Math.

News from our librarian

Here are some things that Mrs. Van wanted to share with you. Make sure to check out the link at the bottom. It's for the month of April.

April in Poetry Month. I had planned on doing "Poem in your pocket day" and to show kids one of the most popular sites I have used with kids- Kenn Nesbitt's https://www.poetry4kids.com/
There are some really funny poems. It is fun to click around.

I know we don't want to overwhelm families. But here are some of my favorite things I have seen on my Twitter feed and Facebook groups...

Kate Messner has a HUGE collaboration of authors and illustrators here:

Jarrett Lerner has some amazing fun activities that kids can print and do here:

Kate DiCamillo has a YouTube series for writing together

Dan Gutman is reading My Weird School daily on his Facebook page. Each week he reads a new book starting Monday and ending Friday. He even reads and answers students questions.

RJ Palicio is reading Wonder Live on Wednesdays. She started last week. Twitter https://twitter.com/rjpalacio/status/1242105455947767808

Dav Pilkey drawing at home with new material every Friday.
